About

Originally from a small inner city outside of Boston, Massachusetts, I am a bilingual English and Spanish licensed therapist and certified healthcare risk manager and graduate of St. Thomas University and Florida International University School of Social Work. I’m also a member of the National Association of Social Workers, Florida Society of Healthcare Risk Management & Patient Safety, and the American Society for Healthcare Risk Management. But despite my titles and professional recognitions, what I really am is an advocate for change. Since graduating, I have worked as a medical social worker in one of the largest county hospitals in the nation in the City of Miami. My clients range from pediatric to geriatric. I led a complex discharge team in the inpatient units working with the most challenging medical cases, performed grief and bereavement counseling as a palliative care social worker, and developed a strong knowledge of resources through the community as a medical social work advocate for the community. My journey started back when I was nine years old, and began feeling connected to something greater than myself. Since I was a child, my mother has always been my driving force and a very positive influence, pushing me to become my best version, and be authentic. As a woman who had to be both mother and father to her children, my aim has always been to plan wisely and take action. I listen to people deeply, understand their dilemmas, and help them overcome their challenges more easily. Whenever I see a problem, I simply help people fix it. That’s how I developed such a passion for my professional practice over the years. But in the end, what I do is facilitate growth and health for those that can benefit from my healing energy. I have made that my personal mission for the last 20 years, because I believe there is a mind, body, and spirit connection, and healing takes place on all of those three levels. That’s why my work is a joint effort with my clients, and we work shoulder to shoulder, with dignity and integrity, in an environment where there's no judgment, only understanding. I am a practitioner of the healing arts, and in my free time, I love practicing reiki, and learning crystal healing and studying the traditions of medicinal plants, and growing my own little peace garden.
